Baiyaqilan (Bai Ya Qi Lan / 白芽奇兰) is a rare, fragrant oolong tea from Pinghe County, Fujian, China, known for its orchid-like aroma, honeyed sweetness, and floral notes, often developed through traditional, slow charcoal roasting, giving it complexity and a warm, creamy character reminiscent of Tie Guan Yin but with its own unique profile.
Origin: Da Qing Mountain, Pinghe County, Fujian, China.
Type: Lightly oxidized, multiple roast oolong.
Flavor Profile: Notes of orchids, honey, toasted nuts, chestnuts, apricot, sugarcane, lychee, and longan, with a sweet, fruity, and mineral taste.
Appearance: Tightly rolled, spherical leaves, similar in look to Tie Guan Yin.
Processing: Often involves traditional methods, including slow charcoal baking (sometimes over 30 hours), which develops depth and complexity.
